OE Services

The “About” tab identifies PredAlytics as a supplier of an array of predictive analytical consulting services. Also there, PredAlytics is characterized as an organizational empowerment (OE) firm in the Predictive Enterprise arena.

Based on current OE Theory, OE is only achieved through an organization’s individuals learning (“Beyond The Individual“). This learning often takes place best in carefully managed “pilot efforts”. Here organizational members perform “lab experiments” that lead to their growth and development. Measurement of such growth and development is simply a measure of the desired organizational empowerment.

So, exactly what are the “array of predictive analytical consulting services” that PredAlytics supplies to “Empower the Predictive Enterprise”? To which I respond, those services that best meet an organization’s readiness based in it’s Analytical Maturity Model Stage (See “Competing on Analytics”, page 35).

The first step to “Empowering the Predictive Enterprise” is to conduct a Predictive Analytics Readiness Survey. This “quick & dirty”, “off-the-clock” study identifies an organization’s analytical management resources as well as an estimate of it’s Analytical Maturity Model Stage (AMMS).  Only requiring about “half a dozen or so” fact finding sessions, the Predictive Analytics Readiness Survey can be completed in a timely manner, often within a week elapsed time.  It concludes with a short report followed with an executive presentation/discussion. Only then is it appropriate to explore  the next steps to “Empowering the Predictive Enterprise”.

It should be noted, expected returns on any “Empowering the Predictive Enterprise” investment efforts before achieving a Stage 3 AMMS (“Analytical Aspirations”) are quite low. Yet, as soon as the AMMS reaches Stage 2 (“Localized Analytics”) undertaking “Empowering the Predictive Enterprise” initiatives such as readiness planning initiatives and R&D exploration are fully appropriate.

Further information about the power of business analytics and optimization can be found at IBM’s site that addresses “Three ways to go further with business analytics“.

One last statement on what can be expected when contracting for OE Services with PredAlytics. The four “work areas” in which PredAlytics will produce “deliverables” are:

  1. a quick evaluation of an organization’s current Analytical Maturity Model Stage
  2. quarterly strategic review and readiness planning initiatives as well as R&D directives
  3. educational development in predictive analytical technologies as deemed appropriate
  4. ongoing project evaluation and feedback

Please note, area 1 is the “free” (“off-the-clock”) work area disucssed above. while areas 2, 3, & 4 are billable on a “time and materials” basis.

Further more, when contracting for OE Services the objective is to move an organization closer to AMMS Stage 5 (“Analytical Competors”). PredAlytics intends to do everything in it’s power to empower that organization to that level … BUT, PredAlytics WILL NOT “do the work”! To gain “the contracted empowerment” the organization must “do the work”. … “Students that do not do the homework problems in Calc A are unlikely to go on to Calc B”. It is the responsibility of PredAlytics to identify and review homework assignments, not to do those assignments. … Professors teach, students learn … etc.
