The tag line for PredAlytics’s is “Empowering the Predictive Enterprise”. By taking advantage of PredAlytics’s Organizational Empowerment (OE) Services your organization can become more closely aligned with the “Predictive Enterprise Model”.
But, what is the “Predictive Enterprise Model”?
While it is hard to get an independent, unbiased definition for the “Predictive Enterprise Model”, a good start can be found by searching on Google using “predictive enterprise” or “predictive enterprise model“. Names like IBM/SPSS, Intel, and SAS occupy the top ten listings. Clearly there is money to be made there and making the “Predictive Enterprise” a reality requires many organizational “players”, both internal and external. But while the “Predictive Enterprise” niche is IT/DP resource heavy, it does require many “hands on business process” players to make it a success.
A good source for catching the “touch, taste, and smell” of the “Predictive Enterprise” is Tom Davenport’s book entitled “Competing on Analytics“. Another source, but with an IT/DP slant, is Information Management Magazine’s April 2008 article “From Business Process Management to Business Process Intelligence: The Road to the Predictive Enterprise”. And a third source I recommend is “Competing on Predictive Analytics“.
Personnally, my “rule of thumb” metric for measuring the “Predictive Enterprise” is the percentage of operational decisions that are computer based. By that definition, a true “Predictive Enterprise” is one that has automated over eighty five percent (85%) of their operational decisions. A good position to start on becoming a “Predictive Enterprise” is to automate operational decisions in a batch mode. But to qualify to be a real “Predictive Entreprise”, over 85% of operational decisions must be made in a real time mode.
